First Annual Stanley Crawfish Boil

Hinds County folk show us a good time again this weekend, as Jacob and Kristen hosted a crawfish boil and a keg of the good stuff--Miller Lite. Kristen's family came up from Lousiana bearing the aroma of 3 bags of fine crustaceans. Pictured here are Jacob and his father-n-law discussing the finer points of crawfish preparation. Everyone who was there will agree--these guys know their stuff. This little canine, Beignet, was also a popular party guest.

the balcony gets a facelift

Spring fever has sprung on Washington Street, plants are appearing, the feral cats are on the prowl (and loud) and March is drawing to a close. In hopes of sprucing up the dormant balcony, I picked up this colorful "mad mat" from Twigs this weekend. Looking forward to Hit the Bricks this Thursday...if you are in town, you should come down.

Egg-cellent Easter Sunday

Blair and Griff may have won the Easter Egg Hunt -- but Liz and I weren't too far behind as we searched high and low for the eggs filled with candy and money! John and Blair are still outfitting their new home, but we were happy to BYOC--bring your own chair. Small price to pay for enjoying a feast of traditional Easter ham, kielbasa, perogies, beets & deviled eggs on their beautiful china. John and Griff even washed theirs down by drinking Miller Lite out of crystal glasses.

Wearing Green and Eating Red

Us Mississippi folks did St Pats a little early--along with the Sweet Potato Queens in downtown Jackson. It was a beautiful day for a parade, and our good pals Kurt and Wendy did us up right. The provided speakers, shelter and Shiner! After the parade was over, they kept the good times rolling with some some tasty crawfish. Lucky we are to have friends like these!

What I love about Sunday...

Spring forward might be no fun, but the weather was spectacular, good friends were invited, and comfort food was prepared. We even used the fancy plates (accompanied by matching paper towels). Seated here are the aforementioned friends: Tom, Andy, Liz, and Griffin.

Once our plates were cleared, we retired to the living room for a grudgematch: Engineer v. Scientist Trivial Pursuit! Andy and I were Team Biologist and the other three represented Team Engineer. Would I even post this if the outcome were not in my favor? Well, hard to say, but know that TEAM BIOLOGIST continues the domination!

If not for the writer's strike...

I never would have come to know my new love: House. This show has been on my radar for a while, but I never gave it a chance. With my regular shows "on a break", my attention was available to be woo'ed away to this crotchety, brilliant, drug-addicted leading man. Now we are under snow watch (in MISSISSIPPI!!) and I intend to curl up on the couch tonight. Little things, my friends, it is the little things that are making me happy these days. Happy Friday.

For those of you who know my friends Konrad and Kandy, I wanted to point you in the direction of their newly created blog site. She will do her best to keep us apprised of the comings and goings of this very busy family.

Here comes the bride...

To follow-up on the wedding annoucement of Jack and Deb, here are a few pictures. We know many of you were present in spirit. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful gathering of close friends and family to witness the marriage of two very special people. Here is a link to a web album I created with photos in it:

I am still trying to find a way to post the video...try to see it on YouTube.
