Nontraditional Valentine's Gifts

Barrett will receive imported Belgian beers and a dinner of Boeuf Carbonnade, a traditional Belgian beef stew made with beer and LOTS of onions.

My gift will be the disassembly and disposition of large limbs that fell during this week's ice storm.

Survey says this is much better than flowers and chocolate.

Winter Wonderland

Lots of tree limbs are down, Bernadette will have lots to fetch and chew once the thaw comes.

Top Predator?

While I was out of town, Barrett and Bernadette enjoyed some quality time together. She emerged victorius in many ways, she was allowed to take rest on the dead hides of her mortal enemies. And the couch.

Retraining has begun.

Sunday morning power walk

Small Catholic Church near my hotel, offered mass in Dutch and French.

About a mile away is the Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula, beautiful inside, the smoke from incense was familiar, but I didn't take any pictures during mass. This is where the current King and Queen of Belgium were married.

Another cool detail is that there are nesting peregrine falcons in these buildings and there are webcams to see them up close http://www.falconsforeveryone.be/
