Bluebonnets, Beer and Bats

Quick trip to Texas this week for the start of a new project which has nothing to do with the named attributes. But I try to collect extra data when possible.

Flashback: Hazwoper Training

We learned all sorts of useful information last week in Hazwoper training. How to set up a decontamination area...
How much we secretly want to be aliens...
How glad we are not to have to don these suits in August (thank a firefighter!)
And how victorious it feels to pick up two pennies wearing this clown suit.
Now I am haunted by symbols and coding systems, providing coded warnings. Propane is flammable, people. That's why we burn it.

Cooking Classes Transitioned

Jenny and I signed up for a cooking class at the Viking School in Greenwood. We had a great time, learned a lot and met some nice people. A lesson is not learned until it can be done again without aid, so when my parents came to visit, I attempted the Parmesan treatment to swai rather than catfish and I made comeback sauce for our salad.

Two thumbs up! The sauce got a dose of strong onion, but I sill liked it. I liked swai better than the catfish, honestly.

Now...who wants to come over for tamales and fried pickles?!?

Life Lessons (continued)

Mom and Dad were in for a visit this weekend and I had an agenda that didn't involve parades. Mom had given me this pressure cooker/canner at Thanksgiving and I had yet to muster the courage to use it. Coincidentally, I also had some fresh pumpkins that had managed to survive the winter. So off we went...back in time when you preserved foods in bulk and stockpiled. My destiny as a food hoarder takes another step forward.

Recipe for Tired

Kid sits on skateboard, holds leash, RHB runs with responsible adult who thought up this redneck dogsled. All require naps.
