Loyal followers may remember her first day at work back in May and it is my pleasure to announce that Xandi is officially a car owner. She worked as a server at the Ware House this summer: making countless trips up and down the stairs, smiling through even the toughest customers, and now you can tell by the look on her face: IT WAS WORTH IT!! She is to be commended for setting a goal, working hard and following through. Definitely more than I did at her age, as I had summer jobs from age 15 on, made money, but never managed the follow-through until I was 19 (summer of '97).

In the News
Our lab is getting a new building, and we had the groundbreaking ceremony this week. It was exciting to see the plans and to be involved in the ceremony. Along with several others, I was asked to speak one line, for those of you who couldn't be there, this is what I said: "Our research on the operational impacts of climate change will guide management decisions on the Corps' water resource projects." Somehow, I managed not to screw it up. Read about us in the Vicksburg Post here.
