Walk on the Wild Side
International Supper Club went to Southeast Asia tonight--combining dishes from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. Shown here is Gado Gado, a peasant dish of vegetables, rice, protein and peanut dressing. Sara's coconut soup was delicious and Jay and Denise tried out a couple of new recipes.James had PB&J.

Have wrench, can plumb
Poor Xandi had to use pliers to make the water come out, and it was worse than I thought. I tried to replace just the handles, but they didn't fit. Off to Home Depot for supplies and retail courage. I bought a new faucet, putty, a basin wrench, and I was good to go. Taps wide open to prove that I made water come back out the new hardware.
Penalty for Stealing Plants
Had a wonderful weekend with my best friend, Jenny. She wanted to see the house, and I was happy to host. We both stay so busy with work and travel that our "tanks" run low, so 36 hrs of couchless friend therapy seemed to do the trick and top us off. She took some plants home from the backyard, most notably these fronds from the blue stem palmetto. While attempting extraction from the ground, I managed to give her a face full of dirt. She was a good sport and smiled for the picture.

Too hot to golf, too hot to fish, and keeping it cold at home
I am committed to no-cook dinners until the heat wave lets up. Cooking light had a number of good ideas this month, and this one did not disappoint. Grab some veggies and a rotisserie chicken to make these Chicken and Guacamole Tostadas. A modest 7 points for my WW buddies.

My Favorite Season
Is coming up next! I love the fall, it means cooler weather, football every weekend, and for most of my life, going back to school. As a new homeowner, it means a fall garden! I just ordered seeds to plant beets, carrots, kale and chard.
Now I just need to contend with the burrowing animals in my backyard. Time to watch Caddyshack for method development.
