Blossom Kite festival

We bundled up, Braved the cold and enjoyed an afternoon on the Mall. Kites of all shapes and sizes filled the sky!

Bernadette got the cure for her cabin fever, lots of people, fresh air and at least one off leash squirrel chase.

Barrett loves kites and jumped in to help many an overwrought kite pilot keep their flights going.

I mostly enjoyed the picnic of wine and cheese as I oriented away from the wind.

Hybrid Vigor

I have seen this dog several times since moving here, butter usually as I am going to work rather than walking the dog. This morning Bernadette got to meet her doppelgänger George. The best news is that he is 17 years old, which gives me hope that she will have a long, full life too. One of the best things about having a mutt!

Spur of the moment trip north to Philadelphia! 

Big Ben Franklin sits atop City Hall.

We toasted adventure at the oldest bar in Philadelphia, McGillan's!

And we did a comparison of Geno's v. Pat cheesesteaks. I preferred Geno's, Barrett chose Pat's. More sampling required!

Mussel Challenge

Recently I was challenged to prepare my best mussels from a friend at church. It was on! Thai was the style we settled on: fresh herbs, coconut, lime and chiles!! Both were good, but I must admit my competitor edged me out this time.

Then this bottle of Chinese hooch came out and things got fuzzy.

Next thing we know, Barrett and Heidi were arm wrestling.
