Bacon, ftw

Barrett and I visited a great spot this weekend: Birch & Barley. We sampled a few beers and enjoyed our meal. But that bacon. Wow. So we ordered more and relished the sweet, smoky goodness! Then we learned it was only $3. Cured and and smoked in house, it was one of the best things we have had in DC.

Six months and success

It is our six month wedding anniversary and this is an appropriate measure of our continued compatibility...perfecting our photobombing technique.

Get a little mud on your tires

We didn't have to go far to escape the city. Barrett showed me his favorite fishing spot and I had a great time hauling in these hickory shad. They migrate up the Potomac to spawn and are protected, but catch and release is a ton of fun!

No respect

Around here, cherry trees in bloom get top billing. I also enjoy the subtleties of a spring time redbud.

Hillwood Estate and Gardens

Barrett's parents are in town and had only one request for sight seeing. It was moved to the top of the list! Hillwood Estate in NW Washington DC. It was such a nice day, we started with the garden walk.

Then the tour guide achieved a level of annoy that was not sustainable, so we bailed to view the orchids in the greenhouse.
